Wallace Roney Sextet
Dinner/Jazz Concert

Wednesday, May 9th

6 - 10PM (HitTime: 8PM).

In a special first time performance, Wallace Roney will hit the stage at Mount Vernon Country Club Wednesday, May 9th. The trumpeter, who was mentored by the late, great Miles Davis is one of the most respected and admired musicians around. That respect came early as a young man playing with the likes of Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, Ornette Coleman and Sonny Rollins. In 1991, Wallace shared the stage with Miles at his historic performance in Montreux, Switzerland. After Davis died, Roney joined the Miles Davis tribute band with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Tony Williams and Ron Carter. They toured the world and won a Grammy for their recording. Wallace's music pulls from the past and continues to move forward. You will see why he has become such a prolific band leader. His sextet includes his brother Antoine on saxophone, Eric Lewis, piano, Rashaan Carter, bass, Eric Allen, drums and Val on turntables. This is an exciting live band that warrants a sold out crowd! Check out www.wallaceroney.com.

As usual, a delicious buffet dinner will precede the concert beginning at 6:00 p.m. The concert will start at 8:00 p.m. Reservations should be made by calling 303-526-0616. Mount Vernon Country Club is located 17 miles west of Denver.

I don't know if others are playing the new single by Rene Marie, but it's a
heartfelt song, beautifully sung, and it's for a good cause:
http://renemarie.com/index/message_from_rene.html. I've been playing it the last couple of weeks and the phones light up each time. I don't know whether people are reacting to the song or the back-story, but it's getting good response and 100% of the net proceeds go the local homeless shelters. If Rene hasn't sent it to you yet, you can contact her through her website.
