Joe Bonner --- One of the celebrated sons of the worldwide jazz
community and the namesake of The Bonner Party, Joseph Bonner can be
heard every Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Mercury Café. Bonner has
enjoyed musical tenures with several of the greatest jazz artists of
all time, including Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Max Roach, Roy
Haynes, Billy Harper and Pharaoh Sanders. He has released over a dozen
albums as a leader as well as appearing on dozens more as a featured
soloist and composer. Joseph was formally educated at Virginia State
College, but his more significant learning transpired hanging out with
Miles Davis and meeting John Coltrane. Influenced by Art Tatum, McCoy Tyner and
Thelonius Monk, maestro Bonner's improvisations employ his deep roots
in modern jazz, gospel, blues, R&B and Latin forms. The Mercury Cafe presents

Bob Montgomery - Al Hermann Quartet in concert. The Quartet is Bill
Kopper - guitar, Andrew Hudson - bass, Al Hermann - trombone and Bob

Appear with UNC Jazz Lab Band I for Two Special Shows at Dazzle
Restaurant & Lounge in Denver (Greeley, Colorado) Bill Holman, an
internationally renowned jazz composer and arranger, will lead UNC
Jazz Lab Band I on at Dazzle Restaurant & Lounge, one of the country's
finest jazz clubs, for shows at 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Dazzle is located
at 930 Lincoln Street between 9th and 10th Avenue in Denver. Admission

accomplished tenor saxophonist having performed with Shorty Rogers,
Shelly Manne, and Mel Lewis, he is best known as one of the finest
jazz arrangers in history. Through his illustrious career, he has
contributed arrangements and compositions to the libraries and
recordings of bands led by Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Gerry Mulligan,
Bob Brookmeyer, Buddy Rich, Doc Severinsen, Woody Herman, and many
others. Furthermore, he has written for such singers as Sarah Vaughn,
June Christy, Tony Bennett, Carmen MacRae, and Mel Torme. In addition
to his work with these greats in jazz, Bill Holman has had great
success in his own solo projects having achieved thirteen Grammy
nominations and three Grammy Awards. Holman will appear with the
DownBeat award winning UNC Jazz Lab Band I under the direction of Dana
Landry. This concert is being presented in conjunction with the
University of Northern Colorado Sunset Jazz Artist Series, which is a
project of the UNC Jazz Studies Program and is supported by the UNC
student chapter of the Jazz Education Network. The next concert in the
series will take place February 5, 2008 at the University of Northern
